President Trump gave a good speech last night.  He laid out what he wishes to accomplish must to the dismay of the democrats.  He wants to lower taxes, strengthen the military, change the immigration policy, build the wall and repeal and replace the ACA.   He suggested we change the immigration law to a merit system.  Immigrants would have to be able to work and could not get government benefits.  This would be like it used to be when people came to our country.  They didn't expect the government to take care of them. We've heard all of this before but he invited the democrats to take part in several of their pet programs, infrastructure and women getting financial support for start up businesses.  He spoke from the teleprompter and didn't get off message like he does too frequently.

The democrats showed how much they really care more about poser than they do the country.  They "sat on their hands".  They didn't applaud much and stood very seldom even when the President mentioned a trillion dollar infrastructure program.  How can you not react positively to getting alien criminals out of our country?  How can you not react positively to creating jobs?  How can you not react positively to America First?  I couldn't, but then, I'm not a democrat.  I know the democrats are still in shock and must not have figured it out yet as they elected an obama and clinton backed man to head the dnc.  No change there I guess.  Stay a party out of touch with the working class and cater to the special groups for celbs, gays, teachers unions, environmentalists, climate change believers etc.  If you do it will be a hard task to win elections.

Now if the Congressional Republicans will get busy and give the President some support and pass legislation that will follow his agenda we'll win the day.  This will be hard because too many Republicans will balk at some of the more difficult tasks.  The Republicans can screw things up and if they do now they can expect to lose the advantage the democrats have given them.

I finally went fishing yesterday.  The river is running high a fast.  There is a lot of water in it.  I goofed up too.  I walked down to the river and strung the line through the eyes and started to tie on a fly.  Only then did I notice tat my leader was down to about 3x.  I tried to tie on some tippet but the 5x and the 3x would not cooperate and the tippet would just slide out.  I was too lazy to walk back to the house so I finally tied a fly to the leader.  I got several hits but no fish.  I then tied some tippet to the fly and tied on another fly.  It worked okay but I ended up losing 3 or 4 flies in the trees and bushes.  Oops.  I ended up with only catching two fish.  It was drizzly and overcast.  I'll try again soon because it was so nice to be fishing once again.  The picture is of the second fish.  The first one might have been a little larger than this one but flipped off the barbless hook before I could get the camera ready.  Aah bridge today.
