I received an email
dated August 9th from a Kari Moore-Deysie. Kari (pronounced Car-EE) went
to Ancestry dot com and found out that I was her biological father. This
came as no surprise to me. I was pretty sure I had a daughter since 1961
and now I know positively that she exists. I searched for both her mother
and her online several years ago but didn't find them.
Kari was born Karine
Lynn on November 12, 1961. Being drafted into the army in late August of
1961, I wasn't around when Kari was born. When I returned from the army in
1963, either her mother told me I was a father or hinted that I was.
Kari lived with her mother in La Verne, CA,
until June of 1970. They then moved to Parker Dam, CA. I'm not sure
exactly who her mother married, but he must have been a good man and was
definitely a good father to Kari.
Kari graduated from
Parker AZ High School in 1979. After graduating, she moved to Flagstaff,
AZ and attended Northern Arizona University. Kari graduated with BSBA
degree in 1983.
After graduating from
NAU Kari moved to the Phoenix area and went four years to a trade school to
become a court reporter (stenographer.) She finished trade school in 1987
and has been a freelance court reporter in the Phoenix area ever since.
Kari has since started her own business to service a few of her own clients.
Kari and I have
communicated since that first email. I hope that we are able to meet face
to face. Going over some of the stats of her life, I'm proud to say I'm
related and feel funny calling her my daughter since I didn't raise her.
I am proud to say I'm her biological father. Mr. Moore and her mother get
all the credit for raising a nice person such as Kari.
This year has given me two big surprises. This is a good one.
She fishes too!
