The last couple of days have been busy ones.  Monday morning and early afternoon Kari, Carolyn and I got to spend time together.  It was Kari's birthday.  Carolyn and I felt pretty honored that Kari would spend it with us.  I had some old high school newspapers and a couple of things from my college days and Kari read through them.  I even had some of my elementary report cards.  It was fun to comment on them while Kari was reading them.  I think she got an idea of my school days as I was growing up.

Kari and I

We got a text from our friends Jack and Jackie letting us know that they were coming from Houston and were going to spend the night in Kerrville and wanted to stop by and see us and meet Kari.  We also heard from one of my traveling buddies that was on his way to see us. Eventually Jack, Jackie and Mike arrived.  We had six for dinner.  Carolyn and Kari worked during the day to prepare chili Verde, a dish that everyone seems to like.  It was good and there were no complaints.  After dinner we sat around and visited.  Naturally there were a lot of laughs.

Tuesday we took Kari to San Antonio airport to meet her flight back to Arizona.  I'm glad to say she had a safe flight home.  My other traveling buddy arrived and hour later so we picked him up and brought him home.  We had a nice conversation with Jerry and caught up with what was going on with him and his wife Carol.

We had a hard time figuring out when we last saw each other.  I traveled Europe with them (Mike, Jerry and Carol) in 1976-77.  Mike came by the house around noon and then the memories of our trip began to come back to us.  Oh my did we laugh at what we did.  Stupid and clever things brought a lot more laughs.  We eventually went to dinner and then came back and watched many, many slides of that trip.  I had gotten a leave of absence from my school district and spent a year in Europe.  Mike and I did make it to Egypt that year.  Most of our time was spent in Torremolinos Spain on the beach.  It was here that it was revealed to that I was really good at doing nothing.  I knew from that point on that I would have no problem with retirement.  I has been proven to be true.

Can anyone give me a reason why they are still counting votes in Florida?  State election laws were broken and it doesn't seem make a difference to anybody.  What's going on?

My picks for this week are:

Washington State over Arizona
UCF over Cincinnati
USC over UCLA  (close)
Temple over South Florida
Cal to upset Stanford
Baylor over TCU
Kentucky over Middle Tennessee
Pitt over Wake Forest
Notre Dame over Syracuse
Iowas State upset Texas
