Carolyn and I met with the doctor yesterday afternoon. He walked into the room, sat down and said, "I have good news". I seemed to zone out for the next minute or two and missed the essence of what he said after that. He was explaining what the PET scan picked up and how he tried to use the CT scan to compare with the PET. His conclusion was that on the CT scan there looked like a mass of about 11 centimeters. However the Pet scan (which is more defining) showed the mass actually is individual tumors that had spaces between them and had become smaller. Smaller is good. He feels like the Opdivo has helped and is getting my immune system working to fight and kill the cancer cells. This is a big step in the right direction. I'm really relieved. I had been very anxious and nervous about the results. I feel more at ease now. The doctor also didn't say "now the bad news". He didn't say anything negative during our meeting. This is a tip for you. If at all possible when you see a doctor about something take your spouse. From experience I've learned that four ears are better than two.
That's the health update. I would imagine that since I've only had one PET scan that one will be scheduled when we get back to Texas in September.
I am so humbled by all the interest in what's going on with me during this chapter of my life. Thank you for all your interest and especially your prayers. I;d like to ask you to keep praying for this is just the first step in my recovery.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a better idea of where I am in relationship to the disease.
