The immigration issue, for me, is a tough one.  If we had only really secured our southern border years ago I could accept some action with regards to the people living here illegally.  But until the border is secured it seems to me we will continually have to waste money and effort on illegals entering the country.

Reading the transcript of President Hussein Obama's speech last night I thought he made a pretty good case for his action.  My disagreement with him is how he is blaming Republicans in the House for not passing an immigration bill that was passed by the Senate.  He, the President, seems to conveniently forget that the Democrats controlled both houses when he became President.  The entire immigration statute should be looked at and amended.  Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to our Constitution should be changed.  We should delete the word "born" in section 1.  Times have changed and the idea that a pregnant woman that enters the country illegally can produce a citizen of the United States by giving birth is ridiculous.

I said the immigration situation is tough because I've met several people that are in the country illegally.  After hearing their stories I looked at the situation differently.  Some were afraid to walk down the streets where they lived because they were afraid of getting shot.  Some couldn't make a living.  There are a lot of reasons the people come to our country.  With the drug cartels causing havoc in Mexico we can expect more people to try to enter the U.S.  Remember I said we should secure our border first.  Then we should streamline the process for the people wanting to come into the country legally.

Now I have a couple of items I think should also be addressed.  One is that English be the legal language of the United States.  All signs should be English only.  The people coming into the country both legally and illegally need to learn English.  Secondly, we should either limit the amount or not let any money to be transferred out of the country.  In other words don't earn money here and then ship it all back to where you came from.  You that entered the country illegally either invest yourself into being an American citizen or go home.  Don't fly your Mexican flags while earning a living in our country.  Adopt this country as yours or adios.

I'm sure I've forgotten some things as I write this.  Most are just my feelings on the subject and off the top of my head.

Politically, the Republicans should not act in haste or they'll lose the the gains they have made.  Work on job bills that will give all Americans a chance at a good living.  If the Latinos get some of those jobs you'll gain voters.  Don't fall for the trap Hussein Obama has set for you.  It's perception that the public sees.  The public isn't interested in the finer workings of all of this.  The states are the ones that have to sort out this mess.  Republicans be patient.  Things will work out.  You should learn from the Democrats.  Don't do anything rash until after the 2016 election.  I shouldn't have to say this but knowing the Republican party I worry about screw ups.
