I remember the good old days when there were just a few bowl games that everyone looked forward to seeing. The Orange Bowl in Florida. the Cotton Bowl in Texas, the Sugar Bowl in Louisiana and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. They were all on New Year's day too.
The 2014 bowl season starts today. Now there are thirty some bowl games and they all have some corporation's name in front of their old name. I don't think all of these bowl games are necessary. They don't fill the stands in these early games. Why would anyone not associated with the schools pay good money to see a 6-6 team play a 6-7 team? Why are teams with losing records being rewarded by going to a bowl? I know why they have all of these games and it's for the money. Some of the teams invited to these bowl games get exposure and that could help the recruiting. With that said I think it's overkill.
While I'm on vacation, well, away from home. I'm trying to stay away from writing about politics. After all it is the Christmas season.
We went over to my sister's house around 11 in the morning and were just going to drop by for a few minutes before we went shopping. At around 4:30 we decided we should get back to home base and see what was happening. We had a good talk with my sis and couldn't find any reason to leave because we were enjoying the conversation too much. She'll do that to you.
I don't know what's on tap today. Carolyn is going shopping this morning. I'm staying home which I don't think she minds. If I get my way I'll watch a few of the bowl games. Remember I don't have to buy a ticket. It's Saturday so kick back and get away from the stressful work week.
