I'm reading some interesting items today.  First I should mention the shootings in Denmark of all places.  Why Denmark?  Who have they hurt recently?  The authorities there think it might be tied to Islamic extremism.  They just might have it right. What is with all the anti-Semitism?  The Arabs have been fighting this battle for thousands of years.  Let it go!  Get a life.  This wonderful civilization that Hussein Obama talks about (Islam/Muslim) stop and take a good look around you.  What have you done to improve your lot?  Have you made your countries in the desert plush like Israel has?  Have you built the economies so people can get out of poverty?  You've only had several thousand years to do so but wait you'd rather carry on a feud all these years.  Makes me want to scream "Get a life".

The next item I thought was interesting was about the States calling for a Constitutional Convention.  I would love to see that done.  If two-thirds of the states petition the government a Constitutional Convention can be held.  Then if an amendment is passed at the convention three-fourths of the State Legislatures must ratify it and then it becomes law.  The Democratic states probably won't back the calling for a convention.

The danger of such a convention is that some weird amendments might be brought forward for passage.  Some real guidelines need to be present before two-thirds of the states call for a meeting.  I'd like to see the following amendments put forth.  A balance budget amendment calling for the government to not spend more money than they bring in.  Along with that I would include no guaranteed increases every year.  That would make an increase just that and a cut a cut.  At present a cut is is only how much of an increase is going to be allowed.  Next I'd like to see an amendment doing away with pensions for elected officials.  They must also be subject to all the laws that everyone else is subject to live by.  I might even add term limits for Representatives and Senators.  How about 2 four year terms for Reps and 1 eight year term for a Senator.  Politics should not be a career.  I'm open for discussion on these but they could be used as a starting point.
